After my very first internship at The Nature Conservancy and while working at the student newspaper, I landed my first journalism internship through the Atlanta Press Club, which placed me at Atlanta magazine. From May to August 2019, I wrote some of my very first professional stories, learned the importance of fact-checking and copy editing and most of all was able to observe and learn from some of the best editors by shadowing them day-to-day. Below is a highlight of some of my work.
I followed this by participating in the Georgia News Lab program which awarded me an internship with Georgia Public Broadcasting.

15 fun things to do for the Fourth of July in metro Atlanta
This article had 23,000 page views by July 8, with 7,000 on July 4 alone. A good events post on the Atlanta Magazine website typically receives 5,000 views in total.
One of my jobs as an editorial intern was to fact-check several articles. Although I didn't contribute to the reporting on these stories, I made sure all of the facts were right, a valuable experience that taught me the importance of details and accuracy for the future of my career. After my internship, I continued to freelance fact-check for three issues of Atlanta magazine.
