From January to April 2021, I interned with CNN under the Features department, which includes the wellness, science, travel and style sections—but pretty much all of my stories fell within the wellness and science sections.
My work there included writing my own stories, pitching story and newsletter ideas, attending educational workshops and team meetings, participating in an intern showcase presentation and aiding the department in the launch of newly branded content, strategically designed for Search Engine Optimization. I also contributed to the team by building and assembling partner stories. Although I did not write these stories, it was still a valuable function of support for the team.
After my internship, I continued to do some freelance reporting for the department. At the end of my CNN internship, as I was graduating college, I shifted to freelancing temporarily until I began a long-term full-time position at Canopy Atlanta.
